What is on the market

We track 1,030 horses currently for sale. About 77.9% show a dollar asking price; the rest say inquire or call for price. Only 34% include both a price and a scope in the ad, and those are the horses behind the medians below.

  • 49 new listings since last week
  • 71 removed (sold, leased, or pulled)
  • 16 price changes in the latest scan

Roughly 15% of ads never show a public price. Those horses are excluded from the price tables.

Disciplines

Jumpers vs hunters

Jumpers and hunters are priced and marketed differently. Jumper ads usually list scope in meters; hunter ads use feet and inches. We report them separately so the numbers stay honest.

How we calculate these numbers

Asking price is what the seller posted, not a final sale price after negotiation.

Median is the middle of the market: half the horses are higher, half lower.

We only include horses with both a listed dollar price and a scope in the ad. POA, inquire, and blank height lines are excluded.
